Marshals Season 2 Release Date Confirmed: When Kayce Dutton Returns to CBS

An October 2026 return for the Luke Grimes phenomenon has been put on the calendar: CBS is making it official with the announcement of a date for Marshals Season 2.

Taylor Sheridan is in no mood to place his growing universe on hold after a freshman season that set records and made for one of the most talked-about hits on modern television. CBS has ended speculation with an official date for Marshals Season 2, sparing fans a long wait for what is sure to be another hard-edged chapter in Kayce Dutton’s law enforcement exploits in Montana.

The word came out of San Diego Comic-Con: Marshals will be back for its second season on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Following its Season 1 rollout strategy, CBS will air new episodes in primetime on Sundays, a weekly cadence that delivers western justice of the highest order on broadcast television in a manner as forceful as any streaming service.

It is a boon for the franchise’s devotees who have become used to the kind of hiatuses you see on television these days. Following the Season 1 finale earlier in the year, Paramount Television Studios did not tarry; production was launched in Park City, Utah to preserve the narrative and keep things moving. The quick turnaround is a direct result of the kind of audience pull the show had from the get-go. It was a ratings colossus for CBS to be sure, with the premiere drawing close to 9.5 million and multiplatform numbers topping 20 million over the course of the season, establishing it as a Sunday night powerhouse.

As for what is in store in the sophomore season, plot specifics are being held tight to spare anyone a spoiler after the cliffhanger of late. But Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton will be on hand to deal with the vagaries of an elite U.S. Marshals unit and whatever else comes of living off the family ranch. With his cowboy and ex-Navy SEAL past, there is a more perilous road in front of him. Returning cast members include Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos and Tatanka Means, and the production has intimated some sterner threats on the frontier. Reports suggest the episode count could run to 18 or 20, which gives the writers ample scope with the story.

Those who want to watch when the season arrives this fall can do so live on CBS at the appointed hour on a Sunday, or stream it at the same time with a Paramount+ Premium plan. Others will find it on-demand once the day of the broadcast is over. With this quick turnaround on Marshals, Taylor Sheridan and CBS are demonstrating that broadcast television of a certain calibre can keep pace with the release tempo of the streaming behemoths, and that the return of Kayce Dutton will be the topic of the fall.
